Why Discovery Workshops

Remember when learning felt like an adventure? When curiosity led the way and every challenge was a chance to grow? That's the spark we're reigniting here - for young people eager to explore their potential and for parents excited to see their child thrive.

In this unique space, I help young people pause and reconnect with what truly motivates them. We explore the art of real connection - with oneself, each other, and the world. By exploring the experiences that have made them who they are so far and diving in to questions that examine who they want to be and how they see their place in the world of the future, we'll work together to come up with a core driving "why" statement and a network of process and project-oriented things to explore & work towards designed to help them get where they want to go in life. They'll uncover that inner drive that makes their eyes light up—the kind of authentic passion that shines through in every conversation, project, and yes, even college essays.

We'll start with a free 10-15 minute screening interview with the student and a quick chat with a parent to make sure that we're all on the same page about what this entails and that the student is really ready for this experience - there is a certain level of emotional & intellectual maturity required for this to be a useful, productive excercise. Some may be up for it as early as 5th grade, it may be 11th grade before some are really ready, but most kids are adequately prepared around 8th or 9th grade. Once we've all agreed to proceed, we'll schedule the workshop proper - which can either be done in two separate two-hour chunks or a single four-hour session - and two additional half-hour follow-up sessions.

This isn't about adding one more gold star. We're nurturing whole, amazing individuals. It's about connecting young people with a genuine sense of purpose - and a sense that who they are and what they do matter. So whether facing a challenging class project, a big game, or questions about the future, they'll approach it with genuine confidence and purpose. For young participants, it's a journey of self-discovery and meaningful bonds. For parents, it's the joy of watching your child radiate from within.
