I've been working with middle and high school students for the better part of two decades as a tutor, mentor, coach, and advisor.
I've seen first-hand the incredible potential that young people have to grow, learn, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
But I've also seen how far too often how a lot of that talent ends up untapped.
I work with students to help them build self-awareness, set meaningful goals, and develop the skills and habits they need to pursue their goals with purpose and intent.
This work usually involves helping students as they navigate transitions - whether it's moving from middle school to high school, preparing for college applications, or figuring out what comes next after graduation.
My goal is to help students not just survive these transitions, but thrive through them and beyond - developing resilience, adaptability, and a sense of purpose that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Self-Awareness & Reflection
Understanding your strengths, weaknesses, values, and interests is a critical first step in personal development.
I use a variety of tools and techniques to help students build a deeper understanding of who they are and what matters to them.
Time Management
I take a different approach to time management than most.
I start by helping students understand how they currently spend their time, then work to make intentional adjustments that align with their priorities and goals.
Study Skills & Learning Strategies
Effective study habits and learning strategies are essential for academic success.
I help students develop personalized study plans, improve note-taking skills, and learn techniques for retaining information more effectively.
Goal Setting & Planning
Setting clear, achievable goals is essential for personal growth.
I help students set good, reasonable goals, develop plans to achieve them, and stay motivated and accountable as they progress.
Communication Skills
All this deeper self-understanding and intentional growth isn't very useful if you can't communicate who you are and what you want to others.
I help students learn to talk and write about themselves and their work with clarity and confidence.
Leadership Skills
I'm a big believer that leadership starts with leading yourself.
I help students develop the skills and mindsets they need to take initiative, make decisions, and inspire people - starting with themselves.
I see tons of kids who want to do well, to learn and grow, to contribute to something, but they just don't know how.
They don't have the skills, the habits, or the mindsets they need to succeed.
Or worse, they think they know what they need to do, but it's all about shallow achievements and external validation rather than genuine growth and doing good work.
They fill their schedules with activities -
maybe trying to do all the things that they "should" be doing, maybe in an effort to keep up with their peers,
or maybe because they just have a wide range of interests and struggle to prioritize -
but in doing so they end up spreading themselves too thin and missing out on opportunities to meaningfully engage with what really matters to them.
Or they get overwhelmed and stuck in cycles of self-doubt, anxiety, and distraction that make it hard to focus on what really matters to them.
That's where I come in.
My coaching work is focused on helping young people undertand themselves better,
clarify what matters to them, and develop the skills, habits, and mindsets they need to thrive.
This isn't about pushing for extraordinary achievement for its own sake -
it's about helping young people engage in intentional development, aligned with who they are and what genuinely drives them.
Good coaching work is tailored to the needs of each individual, rather than trying to shoehorn people into a specific package or program.
Those are easier to sell, but that's not necessarily what you need.
If you just need an hour or two to talk through a specific challenge or opportunity, we can do that.
If you need more regular support, we can set up a recurring schedule that works for you.
If you need help building better habits, developing skills, or working through a specific transition,
I've got tools & techniques that might be helpful - or we can work together to develop something different that fits your needs.
This isn't about chasing credentials or prestige, and it's not about pushing for extraordinary achievement for its own sake.
It's about helping young people engage in intentional development, aligned with who they are and what genuinely drives them.
